Alliant Energy Corp. announced that it will build 60 more wind turbines in Franklin County, the Mason City Globe Gazette reported.

The $235 million project will create 100 megawatts of electricity, or enough to power 25,000 homes, said Ryan Stensland, an Alliant Energy spokesman. Construction is expected to begin in 2012 and be operational by the end of the year.
