Officials from The Tomorrow Plan unveiled the results of its Design My DSM game at an event last night at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. The 955 participants in the online game assigned one through five stars to 16 different priorities to rank what was most important for them in Greater Des Moines’ future. The highest vote-getter, with 2,818 stars, was “I can walk, bike, or take transit to important destinations.” Other options in the top three, all with more than 2,000 votes, were the desire to live in a great school district and the ability to get out into nature. Officials estimate that about 350 people attended last night’s event, which featured a number of maps showing potential future development scenarios.
