The Amanda the Panda and Stork’s Nest programs – offered by EveryStep, formerly HCI Care Services & Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa – have received grants from Variety – the Children’s Charity. Amanda the Panda, a program of EveryStep Grief & Loss Services, received $20,000 to purchase curriculum supplies for support groups throughout the year and fund the training and recruitment of volunteers to help expand services for children in need of bereavement services. The Stork’s Nest, an educational incentive program rewarding participating parents for positive parenting behavior, received $25,000 toward stocking car seats, blankets, bottles, cribs and other essential supplies in the Stork’s Nest shop, as well as to purchase supplies for the Community Car Seat Class initiative. EveryStep is a nonprofit serving vulnerable Iowans in 47 counties through more than 32 community-based health care and social support programs.
