American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. reported third quarter 2015 net income of $97.3 million, or $1.19 per share, compared with a third quarter 2014 net income of $67.8 million, or 85 cents per share. Third quarter annuity sales of $1.8 billion, a record for any single quarter, were up 70 percent from the prior year’s third quarter and were 2 percent higher than second quarter 2015 sales. “We sustained our sales momentum from the second quarter, bringing our year-to-date sales to $4.9 billion — just $200 million shy of the $5.1 billion full year sales record we set in 2011,” said John Matovina, president and CEO. With October sales already exceeding $200 million, “we know 2015 will be our best year ever,” Matovina said in a release.
