Ankeny city manager to retire
The Ankeny City Council unanimously approved early retirement for City Manager Carl Metzger on Monday night. Metzger, who has served as Ankeny’s city manager since 1985, will be retiring June 30.
During his tenure, the city has invested in infrastructure and other capital projects, which have paid off in the opening of the High Trestle Trail, Cascade Falls Aquatic Center, expansion of the John Deere Des Moines Works, a new 450,000 square foot Toro Co. facility at the crossroads of Interstate 80/35 and the soon-to-be completed 36th Street interchange.
The City Council will discuss an interim appointment at an upcoming meeting.
