Ankeny is the fastest-growing city in the Iowa, Bloomberg reported in April. With 16,791 households, Ankeny has grown by more than 47 percent since 2000. In the past year, the number of households in the north-of-Des Moines community increased by 2.9 percent. Touting easy access to railroad services and interstate highways, Ankeny has an average household income exceeding $84,000, according to Bloomberg.
