Area nonprofits, credit union partner to open savings accounts for young men of color

135 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Banking and FinanceTwenty-one middle school and high school boys at the Greater Des Moines Conference for Young Men of Color received $100 and a new savings account through a partnership between Community Choice Credit Union, Choice Creative Solutions and Urban Dreams, Urban Dreams announced recently. The students will meet at Community Choice Credit Union on Saturday to officially open their savings accounts with staff on hand to assist them and their parents or guardians. Community Choice, Choice Creative and Urban Dreams will provide an initial $100 deposit for each student to open the accounts. The annual Greater Des Moines Conference for Young Men of Color is hosted by Hip-Hope, a nonprofit organization using arts and culture to “support hope wherever symptoms of hopelessness are prevalent,” with a primary focus on youth ages K-12 in Greater Des Moines.
