August unemployment rate same as July in Iowa
The Iowa unemployment rate for August was reported at 6.8 percent, according to an Iowa Workforce Development news release. That number shows no change from July, though it is up from 6.3 percent in August 2009. The U.S. unemployment rate for August was reported at 9.6 percent, up from 9.5 percent in July. “The August jobs numbers show that modest improvement has occurred over the past year,” said Elisabeth Buck, director of Iowa Workforce Development. The number of Iowa residents estimated as unemployed was 114,200 in August, up from 113,300 in July.
