Average home sale price up, volume down in January

126 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentThe Iowa Association of Realtors reported that January home prices are up, homes are selling faster and number of sales dipped slightly when compared to January of last year. According to the association’s Housing Trends Report, the median sale price increased by 4.5 percent. The median sale price rose from $119,500 in January 2014 to $124,900 last month. Sales across the state decreased by 1.6 percent from last year at this time, with 1,868 homes sold last month. While home sales in the winter typically slow down, there was a 12 percent increase in active listings from January 2014. In addition, pending sales are up 12.7 percent from January of last year. This bodes well for sales in late winter and early spring, the association said.
