Bird flu cost Iowa 8,500 jobs — Farm Bureau study
Bird flu in Iowa this year cost the state nearly 8,500 jobs, some of which may not be recovered, according to a study for the Iowa Farm Bureau by Decision Innovation Solutions of Urbandale. In addition to lost jobs, the outbreak will cost Iowa nearly $1.2 billion in lower output. Farm Bureau Director of Research and Commodity Services Dave Miller says the ripple effects of the lost jobs and revenue could last up to three years.
