The Urbandale City Council will be asked to approve an economic development package that would allow human resources firm BirdDogHR to make a $3.3 million move from its present location on 100th Street to a new facility at Northwest Urbandale and Meredith drives. The 13,000-square-foot facility would serve as BirdDog’s headquarters office. According to a report to the council, BirdDogHR intends to employ an additional 71 people over three years at wages ranging from about $45,000 to $80,000 per year, plus benefits. The company presently employs 45 people, with 37 located at the 100th Street location. Later this week, the Iowa Economic Development Authority will consider BirdDog’s request for $325,000 in loaned funds from the state’s High Quality Jobs Program, in addition to tax credits and refunds, according to the report to the City Council. As a match for the state assistance, Urbandale would provide the company up to $65,000 from its Revolving Loan Fund for a period of up to five years at zero percent interest. The building owner would have the option to apply for the city’s Northwest Market Center TIF rebate program, with potential value of the rebate estimated at $88,744. The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
