Bob Knapp sentencing set for June 10

Developer Bob Knapp, who hoped to turn downtown’s Equitable Building into luxury condominiums and commercial spaces, will be sentenced June 10 in U.S. District Court in Des Moines after pleading guilty to conspiring to violate the Clean Air Act. Knapp admitted March 18 that he conspired with Russell Coco to remove asbestos from the building without complying with the federal standards regulating its removal and disposal. Coco pleaded guilty to the same charges in February. Knapp faces a maximum sentence of 33 to 41 months in prison and a $250,000 fine.
