Gov. Terry Branstad today appointed Sioux City native Charese Yanney to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Transportation Commission.

Yanney is a former teacher who is now a partner at Guarantee Roofing, Siding and Insulation Co. She has served as chair of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, Iowa Association of Business and Industry and other organizations, and was a 2010 inductee to the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame.

She will take over the role that Debi Durham left upon being appointed as director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development, and will serve the remainder of Durham’s term, which ends April 30, 2012.
