Gov. Terry Branstad, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service announced the 2012 recipients of the Excellence in Mentoring Award.

The awards will be presented during a special recognition ceremony on Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. in the east wing of the Iowa State Capitol rotunda.

Award winners include: Jessi Black of Moline, mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley for three years; Nick Gow of Muscatine, Big Brother Big Sisters of Muscatine County mentor since 2006; and Marytha Pitt of Nevada, GRIP mentor since 2005 after retiring from 37 of years of teaching.
