The 10-state Midwestern Governors Association will meet Sept. 15-16 in Des Moines to discuss regional efforts in electricity transmission planning and development, which will be a key element for expanding the wind energy industry. Gov. Terry Branstad will co-host the meeting, which will be attended by electric utility and transmission company representatives, utility commissioners and other industry officials. Participants will discuss state regulatory planning issues, long-term transmission goals and the role of electrical transmission in economic development.
