Erin Brockovich, best known for her role in the largest toxic tort injury settlement case in U.S. history, will be a featured speaker at the 2020 Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit this month in Altoona. Brockovich successfully exposed a 30-year history of poisoned groundwater in Hinkley, Calif., by utility giant Pacific Gas & Electric. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association’s executive director, Monte Shaw, said Brockovich’s “inspiring message to fight against adversity and stand up for what is right dovetails with our challenges confronting the powerful petroleum industry.” The summit, scheduled Jan. 16 at the Meadows Events Center, is free to attend, but registration is required.
