Roger McCarty, founder of Brokers International Ltd. in Panora, passed away on Tuesday. He was 81. McCarty, who lived in San Antonio, Texas, founded the family-owned business in 1955 in Denver, Colo. He opened an Iowa office in Panora in 1982 and moved the headquarters there in 1995. Brokers International, which specializes in providing training for insurance professionals, was named a Best Places to Work winner by the Business Record in 2009. A native of Guthrie County, McCarty began his career in Colorado with State Farm Insurance Co. and became one of its top agents nationwide.
