The Ankeny Regional Airport will receive $572,470 in funding from a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant, Sen. Chuck Grassley announced this morning. Three Iowa airports received a total of $1,575,316 in U.S. Department of Transportation FAA grants. In addition to Ankeny’s improvements, the Le Mars Municipal Airport will receive $261,240 to extend a runway and the Waterloo Regional Airport will receive $523,011 to rehabilitate an apron and $218,595 to update its master plan study.

ING Groep NV has agreed to acquire CitiStreet LLC, a company jointly owned by Citigroup Inc. and State Street Corp., for about $900 million. The combined operations will make ING the third-largest defined contribution business in the United States. The deal will be financed entirely from existing internal resources and will significantly expand ING’s presence in the retirement services business in the United States, the company said. CitiStreet provides record-keeping and administrative services, counseling and advice programs and other benefit plan services. It has approximately 3,700 employees. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter pending customary closing conditions.

The YWCA of Greater Des Moines and premier sponsor Bankers Trust Co. will recognize the 2008 Women of Achievement award winners at a luncheon on June 4. This year’s winners are Nancy Bobo, Barbara Jean Long, Behnaz Soulati and Christie Vilsack. Willie Stevenson Glanton will receive the Mary Louise Smith Racial Justice award and Chalissa Wilson will receive the Young Woman of Achievement award. The awards honor individuals who empower women and promote racial justice. The awards luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Polk County Convention Complex. It is the main fundraiser for the YWCA.
