Travelers passing through the Des Moines International Airport will have a new place to grab a cup of coffee or get a drink. The airport officially opened the Coffee & Bar, located at gate C5 in the terminal’s C Concourse this week. The C-Bar, as it’s been nicknamed, will be open from 5 a.m. to 30 minutes before the last departure seven days a week. It currently is offering a limited menu because of reduced passenger traffic. As more passengers return, the menu will be expanded. Alcoholic beverages will be served from 6 a.m. to close Monday through Saturday, and starting at 8 a.m. on Sundays. Kevin Foley, the airport’s executive director, said the new shop, an extension of the restaurant Portermill, will make getting concessions more convenient for passengers. “The C-Bar is a great addition for those who are traveling now,” Foley said in a news release. “And as passenger traffic picks up, it will ease overcrowding at our other restaurants while meeting the needs of travelers.”
