Gas prices in California have soared to record highs, shooting up 50 cents a gallon in just the last week, but experts don’t predict similar spikes in the rest of the country, reports CNN Money

Since Oct. 1, the average California price has climbed to $4.67 per gallon,  87 cents higher than Iowans are paying at the pump.

Nationwide, the average price of gasoline has jumped 17 percent this year, according to CNN Money. You can check out a map of gas prices by state by clicking here.
