CAT grants awarded to Waverly, Webster City

Projects in Webster City and Waverly have been awarded a total of $430,000 in Community Attraction and Tourism grants through the state’s Enhance Iowa Program for improvements to a library and the construction of a splash pad. According to a news release, the grants were announced on Oct. 5. The projects include:

  • $375,000 to Waverly for an expansion and renovation of the town’s public library. The project, estimated at $2.76 million, will include the extension of the children’s area, the installation of a “story tree” sculpture, and the addition of about 1,200 square feet for a teen room, the renovation of conference space and the complete renovation of the interior of the library.
  • $55,000 to Webster City for a zero-depth splash pad in East Twin Park. The project, estimated at $432,511, will include 20 water features for different age groups. It will also include sidewalk paths to connect to the existing park and a new shelter house.

The Enhance Iowa Program provides financial incentives for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa.
