Catholic Charities food completes renovation following damage

120 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyThe Catholic Charities Food Pantry, located at 1805 Hubbell Ave., announced it has completed renovations following a March 2025 car accident that left major structural damage. During the renovations, Catholic Charities adapted its operations to continue providing services with support from Fareway Stores and the Des Moines Area Religious Council. Fareway helped re-design the layout at the pantry and donated shelving. DMARC provided a refrigerator during the renovation to ensure food could be stored safely. The pantry is a member of the DMARC Food Pantry Network and partners with Food Bank of Iowa. In the last year, the Catholic Charities Food Pantry fed more than 21,000 individuals through its monthly operations and distributed over 120,000 bags of food.
