Catt Center, human rights department to host 19th Amendment centennial kickoff
The Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics and the Iowa Department of Human Rights’ Office on the Status of Women will host the 19th Amendment Centennial Commemoration Statewide Kickoff on Feb. 14. The kickoff, free to the public, launches a year of events scheduled across Iowa and will be hosted in Memorial Union at Iowa State University from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Catt established the national League of Women Voters on Feb. 14, 1920, in Chicago, six months before the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified.
