Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charlie Evans predicted more slow economic growth during the Corridor Business Journal’s 2016 Economic Forecast Luncheon Tuesday, adding that he’s being more conservative this year because his recent years’ predictions have proven a little optimistic. Evans sees the U.S. economy as measured by gross domestic product increasing by about 2.25 percent. That’s significantly lower than the 3.5 percent average growth rate over previous economic expansion periods, but in line with the average annualized growth rate of only 2.2 percent since the end of the Great Recession.
