The statewide nonprofit Children’s Cancer Connection (CCC) is preparing for its annual Camping the Night Away event on Oct. 5. The eastern Iowa fundraising event for CCC’s free camp programs will take place at Cedar Ridge Distillery & Winery in Swisher. Proceeds from the event and its auction will go to CCC’s Camp Heart Connection. The event will include food, drinks, an auction, raffles and more. A limited number of tickets are still available. It costs CCC more than $500 to send each camper to the camps, and participants attend at no cost to them. The camps offer various activities, such as a Wish Night, tie-dye, horseback riding, creek stomping and more. For those who cannot make it to the event, the online auction opens for mobile bidding at 8 a.m. Oct. 2.
