China is likely to buy more U.S. soybeans beginning in January because South America doesn’t have enough to meet demand between seasons, Reuters reported. China had stepped back from the U.S. market after President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on imports from China, which led to Chinese tariffs on U.S. soybeans. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said this week it has “yet to be determined” whether China will remove tariffs on imports of American soybeans as part of a pact between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Argentina on Saturday.
