Cities and counties pave the way for Veterans Parkway extension

165 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentThe West Des Moines City Council approved several intergovernmental agreements Tuesday that will lead to the extension of Veterans Parkway as well as other infrastructure resulting from the development of Microsoft Corp.’s latest data center, called Project Osmium. The project involves agreements that involve an urban renewal area surrounding Microsoft’s $1 billion Project Alluvion data center development along Iowa Highway 5 and what will be the Project Osmium Urban Renewal Area. The city will capture tax increment funds in both areas to pay for the extension of Veterans Parkway and make other improvements. The agreements were with the cities of Cumming, which will be touched by the Project Osmium Urban Renewal Area, and Norwalk, which will be included in the Project Alluvion Urban Renewal Area, as well as Warren and Madison counties. The agreements note that West Des Moines will not collect TIF dollars from land in Cumming, Norwalk or the two counties that is within the urban renewal areas. Read more about Project Osmium
