The City of Des Moines has honored Nelson Development for the rehabilitation of the historic Hawkeye Transfer Building at 340 S.W. Fifth St. downtown. Intended in part to recognize the developer for spearheading a renaissance in downtown Des Moines, Nelson received an Excellence in Historic Preservation Award for its adaptive reuse of the former warehouse into AP Transfer Lofts, a market-rate apartment complex.
