The Des Moines Civic Center ranked 29th in a list of the top 200 venues, according to Pollstar’s 2015 year-end worldwide ticket sales report. Blockbuster performances from the Willis Broadway Series, shows like Disney’s “The Lion King,” “Kinky Boots” and “The Book of Mormon,” led local ticket sales, bringing in more than 191,723 patrons in 2015. “Our audiences propelled us to outperform elite venues in far larger markets,”Jeff Chelesvig, president and CEO of Des Moines Performing Arts, said in a news release. The Civic Center has ranked in the top 20 venues for ticket sales for several previous years in the annual PollStar list.
