Commercial construction backlog declines
The amount of commercial construction work under contract in September declined 3.3 percent from August, Bloomberg reported. But there is still 6.7 months of work in the commercial construction pipeline, which is well above the low of 5.5 months recorded in January. According to Associated Builders and Contractors Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based trade group, the decrease is attributable in part to a waning number of construction projects financed by the federal stimulus package. In September 2009, the commercial construction backlog stood at 5.9 months.
