Connect Downtown plans sessions on walkability Nov. 2
Connect Downtown will be sharing early ideas for making it easier and safer to get around downtown, and will be asking for your views at two sessions Nov. 2. The first is at noon, the second at 6 p.m. Both will be at the Central Library. Jeff Speck, author of “Walkable City,” will speak at both sessions about strategies to make it easier to walk to destinations, and the benefits of that. The session will include preliminary findings of a report on existing challenges and opportunities to improve walkability. The work involves the city of Des Moines, Urban Land Institute Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
