Construction material prices up in July
Construction materials prices in July were 8.9 percent higher than they were a year ago, according to the Aug. 17 producer price index reported by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Prices rose 0.3 percent from the previous month. Asphalt, tar roofing and siding prices rose 2.4 percent in July and were up 4.8 percent year over year. Nonferrous wire and cable prices increased 2.3 percent for the month and 16.6 percent year over year.
