Construction materials prices fall in June
Prices for construction materials slipped 0.1 percent in June according to today’s Producer Price Index report by the U.S. Department of Labor.
However, construction materials prices have increased 2.3 percent over the previous quarter, and have jumped 8.3 percent in the last 12 months.
“Today’s report on construction materials prices offers a glimmer of hope,” said Anirban Basu, chief economist for Associated Builders and Contractors, in a press release. Basu warned the decrease in prices may not last long.
