Construction materials prices up from a year ago
Construction materials prices were unchanged in September from August, but were up 8.1 percent from a year ago, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Producer Price Index. Prices were down 0.2 percent for the third quarter. “Despite today’s report, there is no reason to believe that construction materials prices will generally decline during the months ahead, even if the global economy continues to soften,” said Anirban Basu, chief economist with Associated Builders and Contractors.
