Construction spending increased in October
Construction spending was up for a third straight month nationwide in October, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. Total construction spending was up 0.8 percent from September, and was down 0.4 percent from October 2010. Private nonresidential spending increased by 1.3 percent for the month and 8.4 percent from a year ago. Private residential spending increased 3.4 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively. Public spending declined by 1.8 percent for the month and 9.4 percent from a year earlier.
