Commercial real estate prices in the United States rose 4.3 percent in September from August, the largest monthly gain in at least a decade, The Wall Street Journal reported. It was the first increase since May. However, a lack of demand for office, retail and apartment spaces continues to place downward pressure on values, which in September were 43 percent below their peak in late 2007, but up 0.3 percent on a year-over-year basis. In the third quarter, retail and apartment property prices saw respective increases of 5.7 percent and 0.4 percent. Office and industrial property prices fell 3.8 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively, in the third quarter.
