DART approves budget, tax increase
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) Commission unanimously approved the fiscal year 2013 budget. The budget includes a property tax rate increase of 15 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value for all 20 member communities. The tax increase is designed to help close a structural gap in the budget and also to help implement service additions in year one of the DART Forward 2035 plan. The plan calls for a 13 percent increase in services
