The new downtown bus hub debuts the day after Thanksgiving.

Major changes to the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) go into effect this weekend.

Buses will begin operating out of the new DART Central Station transit hub at 620 Cherry St. on Friday, replacing the transit mall on Walnut Street.

Also, two new routes will begin operations: Route 52, which provides service between downtown, Valley West Mall and the Jordan Creek area; and Route 60, a University/Ingersoll loop that officials hope to make into a higher frequency bus rapid transit line in the future.
