Davenport launches express bus service to Iowa City
Davenport and Iowa City residents will have a new commuting option beginning Tuesday with the launch of a new express bus service between the two cities, the Quad-City Times reported. River Bend Transit will offer a new QC*IC X-press service that will run Tuesdays through Fridays from Davenport in the mornings to several set destinations in Iowa City and other destinations of choice in Iowa City and Coralville. The return trip arrives in Davenport at 5 p.m. daily. Demand for travel to Iowa City has grown significantly in the past several years, mainly for people needing to go to clinic and hospital appointments, officials said. Funded through a $266,000 Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program grant awarded last year to River Bend Transit, QC*IC X-press will operate on three new buses. The Riverboat Development Authority and the Scott County Regional Authority also provided financial support.
