Delta Dental of Iowa charitable giving topped $3.8 million in 2020
Delta Dental of Iowa and its foundation contributed more than $3.8 million in total donations to 330 organizations in 2020 to address oral and overall health needs as well as the urgent needs created by COVID-19 and the derecho across Iowa. Delta Dental also invested more than $12.9 million in COVID relief and recovery efforts for providers, customers and community partners. “While 2020 was not business as usual, our team continued to provide exceptional quality service to our dental and vision customers,” said Jeff Russell, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa. “We also recognized the impact of the pandemic on our providers, customers and communities. As a leader in the health industry, our team met the challenge and stood up in a variety of ways to support Iowans as we navigated the unique conditions of this past year.” Among highlights of projects and grant programs, Delta Dental awarded four FIND (Fulfilling Iowa’s Need for Dentists) loan repayments to dentists; provided $1.36 million to address COVID-19 relief in the areas of food security, nonprofit operations, health equity funding and support for nonprofit health care clinics; and made direct charitable contributions and derecho disaster grants that totaled $723,707 that included support for vision nonprofits, emotional health programs and training, veteran dental care, and food bank programs.
