Des Moines International Airport and the Transportation Security Administration are constructing an additional security lane to alleviate an added demand from increases in passengers in the last few months.

Kevin Foley, general manager of the airport, said in a release that construction is under way and is expected to be done by July 1.

Foley said airport officials have seen an increase in the early morning rush, from 5 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., as airlines have added flights and decreased fares. Foley advised that passengers should still plan to get to the airport at least 90 minutes prior to their departure time.
