Des Moines Botanical Garden’s outdoor gardens open
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden opened its 11 new outdoor gardens to the public for general admission on Saturday. The outdoor gardens are now open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with seasonal cost of admission, which also includes the conservatory and the Gardeners Show House. A full roster of classes and events is planned at the newly renovated and expanded botanical garden, highlighted by the second annual Spring Garden Festival scheduled May 7-10. That event will include a limited-edition plant sale with over 500 unique and usual varieties of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs and tropicals in five showrooms in the Koehn Garden and on the Bankers Trust Veranda. Tickets are on sale online for the exclusive preview sale and cocktail party the evening of May 7.
