Des Moines moves forward with rail port planning
The Des Moines City Council on Monday evening unanimously passed a resolution approving a Request for Qualifications and Request for Proposals for the development of a rail port transloading facility in Des Moines. The facility would be located on city-owned property at Southeast 15th Street and East Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. The RFQ responses are intended to provide the ability to identify up to five potential providers who will then be invited to submit a formal response to the RFP. The RFQ and RFP will provide information to city officials on the capabilities of respondents to finance, develop, construct, market and successfully operate a rail port facility on a long-term basis.
