WalletHub has issued a ranking of the best and worst cities in which to start a business. WalletHub analyzed the relative startup opportunities that exist in the 150 biggest U.S. cities. Des Moines ranked 52nd overall, 28th in “access to resources” and 111th in “business environment.” The methodology indicated Iowa’s tax structure hurt Des Moines’ rating. The analysis considered 13 metrics, ranging from five-year survival rate to office space affordability to how highly educated the labor force is. Shreveport, La., topped the list. Newark, N.J., ranked 150th.
