The owner of the Des Moines Register, Gannett Co. Inc., informed employees Thursday that another voluntary early retirement program will be offered. Details weren’t included in a Des Moines Register staff email that gave those eligible until 3 p.m. today to pick up a packet of materials. Typically, the company has offered either one week or two weeks per year of service. Some Des Moines Register staffers reported they were told that 17 employees are eligible there, but only seven may get the buyout, based on seniority. To be eligible, employees must be 55 or older and employed at Gannett for at least 15 years as of Oct. 12, 2015, the company announced.
