Des Moines will host the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in 2014 and 2015, the National High School Rodeo Association announced today.

The event that could bring up to 10,000 visitors to the city each year.

The rodeo will be held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds and will be the first time the rodeo has ever been hosted outside of Red Rock Park in Gallup, N.M., according to a press release.

The new Richard O. Jacoson Exhibition Center at the fairgrounds, a climate-controlled indoor facility, played a role in bringing the rodeo to Des Moines, the association said.
