Dice Holdings Inc. reported net income of $11 million for the third quarter, an 18 percent increase from the third quarter of 2011, the company announced Wednesday.

Earnings per share were 17 cents, a 31 percent increase from 13 cents in the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 totaled $48 million, an increase of 3 percent from $46.8 million in the comparable quarter of 2011.

The technology company, which bases its operations in Urbandale, provides jobs board websites for professionals.

On Sept. 17, Dice completed its acquisition of three professional websites — Slashdot, SourceForge and Freecode — from Geeknet Inc. The acquisitions position Dice to expand its specialized recruiting service globally, Dice officials said.
