Dickinson law firm to absorb closing Schneider firm’s attorneys
Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen P.C. plans to hire seven attorneys who currently practice at Schneider, Stiles, Serangeli and Mountsier P.C. Both firms are located downtown.
Fred Schneider, Bill Stiles, Bill Serangeli, Ron Mountsier and Amy Plummer will join the Dickinson firm as shareholders. The company will also hire Joe Borg and Ben Bruner as associate attorneys and fill three support roles.
“Their practice areas complement ours very well,” Dickinson law firm president and shareholder Bridget Penick said of the attorneys, whose focus areas include corporate law, tax law, real estate law, estate planning and litigation. “It’s adding some depth to each of those areas for us.”
“Dickinson law firm just appears to be a mirror of my law firm, only on a larger scale,” said Serangeli, who has been with Schneider since it opened in 1978. The practice, which will close as its staff transitions to Dickinson, moved to the Equitable Building in 1988.
Penick said the Dickinson firm’s roster of attorneys will grow to 33 when the six men and one woman join the practice on April 30. The firm also plans to hire an associate attorney this summer following his graduation next month from University of Iowa College of Law.
“I think it’s important to maintain or increase the size to continue providing the work or the assistance that our clients need,” Penick said, adding that some of Dickinson’s attorneys are approaching retirement age.
Located in the Hub Tower, the Dickinson firm is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
