Filling stations around Des Moines were selling unleaded ethanol blends for $1.99 a gallon today after U.S. crude oil prices dropped below $40 a barrel. A persistent global oil glut and rising U.S. stockpiles are behind the change as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Reuters reported. The barrel prices fell to their lowest point since August, and U.S. crude inventories were sitting at 487.3 million barrels, close to a record high.
