Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) students have saved $1.1 million in the past year by renting rather than purchasing textbooks, DMACC officials announced. The college began offering its Rent-a-Text program at the six DMACC campus bookstores in the fall of 2010 through a partnership with Follett Higher Education Group, the company that operates the DMACC bookstores. Approximately one-third of all textbooks used in the DMACC district are now available for rent, and about 11,000 students have rented textbooks through the program.
